Poem: Burnt Hands

Your old laughs shroud new memories
In a false delight that I don’t deserve.
Three years of laughing,
Three years of memories,
Nothing to show for it but burnt hands
And sodden hearts.
I’ll never gain the courage
To welcome in a new life without you,
A selfless person with a selfish heart.
I’ll never gain the courage to say goodbye.
