Poem: Overwhelming Compliments

I seem to tell you too often that your smile is perfect,
That you make me laugh,
That you’re entirely worth it.
I smother you in compliments,
Drown you in hugs,
Gag you with kisses,
Lead you with gentle tugs,
On your shirt to the couch,
Where I sit you down slowly,
And you laugh at me lightly,
And I look at you knowing
That I love you, my dear,
More than I ever intended,
So forgive my compliments,
But you are beyond splendid.
